Charles can't sleep | 05/12/24

Charles felt sleep wasn't easy to come to him this night so he tried to reach Erik and sighed softly. "Do you mind a late night tea / drink with me? I can't sleep."

"Yea...sure." he mumbled tiredly as he sat up from his bed. The lingering presence of Charles in his head. "You coming here or want me to come over to yours?"



For a moment, he thought, then he responded, "What would you like more?" He was used to just appearing for people without asking and sometimes being just in their minds, but here? He was in Erik's home. So he wanted to give him the decision.

He yawns still fighting back the tiredness nagging at him. "Why don't you come here? I'll pull out the chess board." He laid back on his bed once again closing his eyes. He had a little bit before he showed up.


He could guess from his voice that the other was very tired. 

"You sound like you’re going to fall asleep at any time. Are you really going to play chess with me?" 

A soft chuckle escaped him as he shook his head, then said, "I will come over." And that's what he did. Soon he stood in front of Erik's home; he was still impressed and gave the door a soft knock, truly expecting to meet a very tired or exhausted Erik.


He smiled. "It is pretty late but I'll be fine. We can play a game. Don't think it'll be easier for you to win because I'm tired." He lets out a soft laugh. 


Hearing the faint knock on the door Erik stood going over to let him inside. He yawns gazing at him. "Come in."


When Erik opened the door, Charles could see how truly tired Erik was. "Are you sure it's getting easier for me? You look like you could use some sleep instead of playing a round of chess with me. Was the day rough on you?" he asked as he went inside, being thankful that he could spend time with him instead of sinking into endless thoughts and a mind that didn't want to let him rest.

Grief can change someone, pushing their emotions into dark corners. Charles had witnessed the loss his old friend experienced. How could he say sorry when they hadn't seen each other in ages?  Now he had found him, reaching out as he always used to do, not knowing how the other would react or feel.  "I am deeply sorry for your loss, my old friend." Because that's what he was, yet they had lost touch even though Charles had tried to keep himself in the other mutant's life. But he also knew that if he took one step on the ground Erik had been building for his new life, Erik would try to lure him back in. They had always been on different sides; where Charles still held hope, Erik was the one trying to Open Charles's eyes. But that was truly a challenge, given who he was. In the end, they were like two sides of a coin, and for that, he came and was there. Grief had pushed Erik to the point of break. Trying to live a normal life. Finally had something to live for....

It was still very early in Genosha; Charles had just woken up and felt strong arms around him. The familiar scent of his lover, who was still asleep, enveloped him, and he couldn't help but press his nose into the crook of Erik's neck. It was Christmas Eve, and in addition, it was their first one to spend in their new home. Maybe they could bring those two houses together and make a door between them so they had one big house together. Such thoughts came to him while lying next to Erik. Softly, he placed some kisses against the other man's cheek and jaw. "Merry Christmas, my heart. I want to spend a little time with you today. Maybe we can get a tree and decorate it... And maybe we can combine our two houses into one. That would be my wish for this Christmas." He gave Erik a nice dream; he normally wouldn't do such a thing, but he wanted to give Erik a dream as a gift where they would both be happy spending time in a house together, filled with Christmas light...

Using the sling ring she had obtained to gain access to the outside world. Cassandra stepped through looking around taking in her surroundings. There before her was Xavier's school. She let out a soft hum as she moved towards the front door the portal closing behind her.  "What do we have here? What has my dear sweet brother been up to?"  She said to herself pushing open the door as she walked inside. It was mid morning. The hustle and bustle of the school day had started. She would stop the first person she'd see.  "Take me to Charles." She demanded the poor child who would comply leading her towards his classroom. Once there she'd give the child a nod leaning against the doorframe blue eyes watching Charles. He would recognize this presence no matter what, and when he felt her, his eyes shot to her, blue eyes meeting hers.
